Disappointed Artist

By Akif Ayaz

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed
by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

Whenever you want to make big decisions in life if you want to fly high, make it a point that many people will try to discourage you. If you fall prey to this Criticism, your name will also be lost among the millions of people who have given up in fear and become nameless on the difficult path to the destination. But if you stick to your goal with high spirits, the time will not be far when the same people who used to throw mud at you will start chanting your name.

“You must make a decision that you are going to move on.
It won’t happen automatically. You will have to rise up and say,
‘I don’t care how hard this is, I don’t care how disappointed I am,
I’m not going to let this get the best of me. I’m moving on with my life.”

There was an artist, he had a very worthy student. That student asked his teacher to allow me to take a picture and put it in front of everyone so that people could tell us what it lacked and I needed my skills. Will also know how much skill I have learned from you. So the teacher gave permission. The student made a picture and put it in a big square and put a pen with it and wrote on it that If there is any shortcoming, mark it … A few days later, when he went to take a picture, he saw that the whole picture was full of marks. The student was very sad. The teacher reassured him and said, “Make another picture that is less than your skill and put it in the same place, but this time write on it that if there is any defect in the picture, correct it.” When this picture was seen again a few days later, there was no sign on it. This time the student was happy and asked the teacher what is this …?? While the previous picture was a perfect example of my skill. But there were so many marks on it that the picture was buried behind the marks and the picture was replaced by the marks.

The teacher said that I am convinced of your skill and that is because you are my student but you are really a good artist and I am proud to have the honour of being your teacher. You didn’t have to test your skills like that, but I accepted the suggestion to put your picture in the square so that you would have the experience to test your skills in the mood of the people, and you also tested the people yourself. When asked to find an error in a high-quality image, everyone marked it, but when asked to correct the second image, which was much lower than the first image, no-one marked it. So remember that if you want to advance in your skills, keep taking people’s feedback, but keep giving 100% in your work without getting entangled in them.

It is the nature of people who only look for people’s faults but do not have the ability to correct them. The same is true of our nation today. Every muezzin, Imam Sahib, and even the scholars are not afraid to point out flaws, but if we talk to them about reforming the nation, the answer is the opposite. No, what are the scholars for? It is very important to do your own accounting before looking at someone’s fault …!!!

Never be a disappointed artist in life. As you walk through the difficult paths of life, you will step on the beautiful paths of success. Then the same face and tongue will be singing your song that never tired of humiliating you.
